This is our general farm information- if you’d like to see more detailed reports, please check our Facebook! We update it regularly throughout the season regarding tree availability and selection.
We grow White Pine, Douglas Fir, Scotch Pine, and Norway Spruce as our primary crops. Our typical self-cut trees will run between 5-10’. The taller the tree, the rarer it is. 7-8’ is generally where the selections start to thin out. We’re working to rectify this in the long term by planting over 1,000 trees per year till we get a more versatile height selection.
We rare partnering again with a family farm in NC in order to provide our customers with variety. We will have about 100 pre-cut 6-8’ Fraser Firs from their farm. -
We provide carts and handsaws for your family’s experience! You get to explore the beauty of a Central Virginia family farm until you find it- that picture perfect tree for your family’s storybook Christmas. Take a few minutes to saw at the base of your tree until you can easily push it over. Give your tree a good shake and load it onto the cart to make your way over the the wreath shack!
Please do not bring or use your own cutting tools.
-
We use Square hardware to take cash, check, Apple Pay, and major card companies.

6-1/2 to 8ft: $75
8-1/2 to 10ft: $100

While you’re in the wreath shop, take a look at any of the seasonal decorations we carry! Wreaths are handmade from clippings of Foxfire trees! Regular size is $35 and large wreaths are $55.

After you’ve paid in the wreath shack, you’ll check in with our balers and your tree! They send this through the baler to cover it in nettling while you drive your One-Horse Open Sleigh or your Honda Civic (whichever you prefer) through the other side of the wreath shack. You can bring your preferred method of tree-security if you’d like, but we are more than happy to help tie your tree to your car roof, even if you don’t have a roof rack. The Christmas Magic takes a team, and you can count on us to make it happen for your family.
FAQs
What are the rules at the farm?
We love a good party, if there’s milk and cookies. Smoking cigarettes isn’t the type of party that’s safe to have around Christmas trees or the number of kids you can expect to see running around. Same goes for adult beverages- we don’t have an ABC license or any Ubers. We also provide you with handsaws, so we do not allow guest tools to be used on site. You can also expect rocks, stumps, and holes as this is a working farm! We expect our visitors to contribute to the safe and merry behaviors that belong at Foxfire Christmas Tree Farm.
Can we bring a camera?
Of course! Document these precious memories- they go by too fast. Ask us if we have any recommendations for Christmas card worthy spots! If you’re a photographer, get in touch with us below about how we can best serve your business!
Can I bring pets?
In short- probably not. If you’re setting up a private tour, event, or photography session, that’s something we can plan to accommodate. During Christmas season, your pets are encouraged to stay at home for their own safety. If you choose to bring them to enjoy the Christmas magic, they will be required to stay leashed. With the amount of traffic we typically experience, we would be heartbroken if somebody got hurt. Foxfire Christmas Tree Farm is also a part of Mill Creek Livestock Farm and we have our own working dogs that we keep tied during this season. We’d love to give you and your pups a personalized tour in the quiet season!
Can we bring a picnic?
Absolutely! The above rules apply- no adult beverages please. If you’d like to set up a private event where we can better accommodate a fun adult-focused event, drop us a line!
Do my kids need to be on a leash?
No judgement- we remember those days. We expect grown-ups to keep little ones safe in our parking lot- we tell folks to slow down, but your kids mean the world to us and we want everybody to stay safe. Once you get in the tree fields, they can run wild! Maybe put bell collars on them if they are the wandering type. Those cool folding wagons (that they definitely didn’t have while we were raising toddlers) are probably awesome to have for your tree hunt, as long as they’re okay with a bumpy ride! Our kids liked to ride on the tree cart, but remember- merry and safe. Expect rocks, stumps, and holes!
What if we’re allergic to Christmas Trees?
We’re so sorry to hear that! Hopefully you can enjoy the handmade Christmas wreaths that we lovingly design using clippings from our trees. All of our helpers are family, or might as well be, so this is a great way you can still support a small veteran-owned business.
